Dozens of innocent cats have been abused and left to die in horrible
suffering in Spokane, Washington. The ordeals first started in August 2016 when
Wesley O’Dell and his wife came across a lifeless kitten right in the street;
the helpless moggy had USB cords tighly wrapped around its tiny body. Another
innocent cat was discovered abused in the same way just weeks afterwards; in
November, three other cats that were wrapped in duct tape emerged – none of
them survived.
In total, 30 cats have been severely mistreated and eventually
terminated, all believed to be the work of a single person. Wesley O’Dell is in
complete dismay, as he has yet to hear updates from this case. He added than
when he reached out to SCRAPS, the regional animal protection agency, he was
treated like a suspect.
I just wanted to warn the community that the person responsible for
all of this is still out there. If nothing is being done, things will get worse
– O’Dell confessed.
SCRAPS refused to comment on the situation, claiming there was an
ongoing investigation; however, they acknowledged they were investigating and
will turn everything they know to the prosecutor’s office. No arrests have been
made thus far.
However, a confession posted on Facebook could be the break
authorities were looking for in this case. Facebook user Tyler Engstrom stated
that he was the one responsible for what happened to all those cats. His post
reads as follows:
Just wanted to let everyone know that the rumours about me having
abusing all those cats are true, I can’t help myself, I get the thrill out of
doing it and I don’t known why, I’ve been lying to everyone this entire time. I
want to keep doing this because it’s fun and I can’t stop
It turns out that Tyler Engstrom (pictured above) has been released
from prison shortly before the first victims started to emerge.
It is important to note that such confessions cannot be used as
evidence in this case, but this is quite a significant development and we, the
undersigned, hereby urge the authorities to take action and investigate the
suspect without further delay. If indeed this man is the perpetrator, we demand
that the maximum penalty available under current laws are imposed.
