The shocking and heartbreaking incident unfolded in the Don Turcuato
neighborhood, close to Buenos Aires, Argentina. The footage shows a helpless
pit bull dog being dragged behind a service truck for miles. The entire scene
was captured on camera by a witness, who later uploaded it on Facebook, where
it caused a massive uproar.
It was determined that the people behind the attack were public
servants. At the time of the incident, the people involved were on duty and had
been using the truck belonging to the municipality to carry out this cowardly
and senseless act. The video shows how two men tie the dog against the back of
the red pick-up truck before driving around town like nothing happened.
The pooch succeeds in keeping up the pace for a few moments, but as
soon as the driver speeds up, he ends up being callously dragged against the
tarmac.
Mayor of the municipality of Tigre, Julio Zamora, was outraged by
this incident and has confirmed in a public statement that the public servants
have been dismissed of all their duties.
Luckily, the dog escaped with only a few bruises and is expected to
make a full recovery.
Please ensure that the attackers will be prosecuted to the fullest
extent of the law and justice will eventually prevail. Argentina does have
animal welfare laws in place and we, the undersigned, sincerely hope they will
be applied accordingly and no mercy will be spared. The attackers have absolutely
no excuse for what they did and the pain and suffering of that innocent dog can
hardly be put into words.
It is time for the Argentinian justice system to prove to everyone
that such acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
