Punish elderly man that dragged dog behind car for miles!

Motorists traveling from Karelia to St. Petersburg in Russia were given the chance to witness a shocking scene. A car was driving on the side of the road normally, but it was not the make of the vehicle that stunned the other drivers, but the fact that a dog was tied to it and was being viciously dragged along the road.

Motorists took photos of the vehicle’s license plate and tried to get the man to stop, but to no avail.

A witness stated the following: We were driving in the car with our entire family. We signaled to him, but the driver did not respond and did not stop. We were shacking all in fear and thinking how can anyone do this to a helpless animal?

Finally, a police patrol intervened and managed to stop the driver, who turned out to be a 72-year-old man. He was travelling with his wife. The owner seemed to have no regrets about what he had done, claiming the dog was being punished for misbehaving.

The callous owner claims that he was extremely angry with his pet dog, Mukhtar, for eating four of his chickens and allegedly biting his wife. He therefore decided it was best to have him euthanized. However, because he was unwilling to pay the euthanasia fee, he decided it would be much cheaper to tie up the dog to his car and drag him along, all the way to St. Petersburg. The dog did not survive the trip and passed away in tremendous pain. 

I am absolutely shocked that a person is capable of behaving this way towards an innocent animal. That canine did not deserve anything of this! Even if the owner was upset on the dog, he could have dropped him to a local rescue group or call a friend and try to rehome him. We live in the 21st century, supposedly an era of civilization, yet people still choose to behave like primitives! Not only did he make the animal suffer tremendously before his ultimate demise, but he also chose to make a show out of it!

I am asking everyone to take immediate action and demand an exemplary punishment against this heartless, evil person! We will not settle with a mere fine, this monster needs to be deprived of his liberty and put away, because his actions are inexcusable! Help ensure this man will be held accountable for what he did to Mukhtar!
