4.700 NEEDED
A photo that perfectly illustrates the plight of dogs in Pakistan’s capital city, Karachi, has gone viral online on social media. The lifeless bodies of over 800 dogs were put on display in the middle of a busy street. Passers-by were able to see this gruesome display, but it appears no one had anything to object. Such actions have started to become a common sight on the streets of Karachi.
These government initiatives only comes to show the lack of respect towards the lifeless of the stray dogs. Rather than implementing a humane, effective managerial solution to take care of the stray dog problem, authorities preferred the easy way out, poisoning the dogs without any remorse. The dogs were disposed of by placing poison tablets hidden in chicken meat - the perfect bait for a hungry street animal. Later on, the dogs were collected with the huge trucks and disposed of at city outskirts.
We, the undersigned, ask authorities to reconsider their policy and adopt more humane options to deal with this issue – spay and neuter scheme, the buildings of shelters; contacting reputable international NGOs, who can bring valuable input on this issue should also be mandatory. None of these has happened.
Please take action and provide a better life for the dogs in Karachi. These voiceless souls should not have to suffer due to the incompetence of the authorities!
Help put a stop to these massive poisoning campaigns by signing and sharing this petition.
