Dog hung and beaten repeatedly gets no justice! Sign The Petition!

The sad story of this dog was made public by his owner, Miguel Angel Flower, from Guadalajara, Mexico who posted on his Facebook account that the pooch had gone missing for a couple of days. He posted a video that depicts two men hanging his dog and pounding him without remorse, as the canine can be heard yelping in despair.

The dog was eventually returned to the owner, but in spite of numerous calls for justice, no investigation has been launched. The local authorities never issued an explanation for why the people (who can clearly be seen in the footage published online) were never punished for their sick deeds.

This case perfectly illustrates the plight of the Mexican animals. There is so much abuse going on in Mexico and there is so little justice that is being done. Pets such as dogs and cats are frequently mistreated – and attackers often publish the evidence on Facebook, knowing that due to lenient laws they will never be punished (plese see a few examples below, in the photo section of this petition); illegal horse abattoirs are still operating normally, despite numerous pledges from the authorities to be  shut down; last but not least, dog fights continue to hit this great nation like a plague, while authorities are have repeatedly failed to take the necessary steps to punish the perpetrators.

We, the undersigned, are disappointed with the efforts made by Mexican officials with regards to animal welfare issues and strongly feel that tougher protection laws for animals must come into force as soon as possible. Too many defenseless animals are abused all over the country, while attackers are almost never punished (or receive symbolic sentences). This must change because animals deserve better.
