Petition text

A man was filmed slamming his greyhound dog to the ground countless times after losing a race in northern China. Upset that he had lost all his money, the owner decided to take it all out on his dog. The person filming does not bother to intervene and stands by as if nothing wrong is going on. During the video, the owner claims he will eat the dog after dealing with him.

Listen up dog owners, if you’re dog is not fit to win races, just eat it – the furious man concluded.

According to social media updates, this incident took place in Xiong county of Hebei Province, in China.

The footage sparked outraged immediately after being posted on Weibo, China’s most popular social network – as it has gathered over 2.5m views. Major European news outlets such as the Daily Mail have also reported on this story.

Petition objective

Sadly, because China does not have any animal welfare laws, this owner will escape unpunished. In these conditions, the need for China to adopt laws to protect animals has become imperative. Animals there need our full support and the Chinese government must act accordingly and confer them the protection they deserve. Such behavior against innocent animals occurs on a daily basis and has reached record levels.

Please take a stand and let the authorities in Beijing know that the time for swift action has arrived. This is our response to what is going on with so many animals: we fully support laws to protect them and we hope our message will not be taken lightly and our demands will be placed under careful examination of the relevant institutions in an acceptable time frame.
