3.090 NEEDED
Lauren Hunter, 20, and Jamie Larkin, 26, from Eccles, England realized their dog, Buster, was desperately underweight but they still didn’t give him enough food or call a vet to help out.
They left their dog to starve for a long period of time even when the dog’s weight reached a critical 42 lbs – a healthy adult Mastiff should weigh more than three times that amount.
His skull, ribs and hip bones all became extremely visible through his skin and he had several pressure sores on his body from laying on a hard floor.
The two were feeding the dog only leftovers and never enough to
match his need. When he was found the dog was laying on the floor. There was no
bed or food for him anywhere on the property.
Bones were protruding from the dog’s shoulders, skull, ribs and hips. He was removed from the house and taken to the vets, who estimated the dog had been left this way for six weeks.
Joint owners Hunter and Larson, previously of Irlam Avenue, Eccles, said they noticed he was skinny and had tried different foods. But they didn’t seek vet’s advice when he remained severely underweight.
They also said they didn’t have a car to take Buster to the vets.
Buster is now on his way to making a full recovery.
The case was adjourned until June 2 while pre-sentence reports are prepared.
We cannot allow them to walk away unpunished! Buster must have
justice and by justice I mean that the owners must be punished severely and
banned from owning animals again. They intentionally starved the poor animal
and he could have died there because they didn’t care. They found excuses every
time they had to feed him or take him to the vet. These persons are not fit to
care for animals therefore they should be banned from owning animals and
punished for starving Buster.
