Justice for dog beaten and abused for years! Support Ava’s law now!

Of all the abuse cases in this world, Ava’s has to be one of the most heartbreaking and outrageous. Unfortunately, I have come to learn that there are people capable of watching an animal suffer terribly and do no thing to help.

Ava’s misery started two years ago, after she was hit in the head multiple times with a baseball bat by her owner. During all this time, she was continuously denied medical treatment. Her injuries got worse and worse in time and this is what the end result was. A concerned neighbor called an animal rescue agency in Spain to complain about the dog’s welfare. When volunteers arrived at the house, the smell was simply out of this world.

These people have seen a lot of dogs in distress, but were absolutely stunned to see in what state of health Ava was. She had a huge tumour on her face. The infection had eating her entire body: her ears, her muscles, her tissue. Her pain was simply beyond comprehension. 

Volunteers immediately pulled the suffering dog out of the house. Her owner was more than delighted to see her go.

After a series of compelling tests, the medical team discovered that this helpless dog was suffering from a severe form of cancer, that cannot be operated on. Her precious life eneded because of the blatant negligence and indifference of her owners.

Unfortunately, Ava’s owners were never brought to justice, due to the lack of interest exhibited by local authorities. Ava will never get the justice she deserves, as a result of police indifference and lack of proper animal welfare laws. Even if Ava’s owners had been indicted, they would have received a small fine at best. Which is truly unacceptable.

Support Ava’s legacy: tougher animal welfare laws need to be adopted in Spain as soon as possible. Please support a new law that will se mandatory jail time handed out to each person convicted of abusing an animal, as well as a minimum fine of EUR 10, 000 ($10, 500). This is the only way perpetrators will be discouraged from committing these inhumane acts against innocent animals. Right now, they are operating on the assumption they will never be punished for their deeds and this is unacceptable.

We owe it to Ava to ensure something changes in this country!
