Justice for mother dog that had both eyes poked out in front of her baby!

I am appealing to all the people who have a heart to support this petition. This helpless creature deserves justice, we owe it to her to do our best to turn the situation around!

This sweet mother dog was found in a field near the city of Kherson, Ukraine, in the worst possible state of health – emaciated, dehydrated and completely blind, after her eyes were poked out. Her week-old puppy stayed right by her side, but did not survive. In an extraordinary display of parental love, the mother dog was sitting besides her baby, trying to keep the puppy warm and protect it. She hadn’t realized that her baby stopped breathing at one point.

Local residents claimed they would feed the mother dog from time to time, but this was just about the help that this dog received.

One day, someone who can hardly be called a human being, decided to take her eyes out in a despicable and cowardly attack.

I can’t even begin to imagine the suffering this dog had to put up with. As if the attack on her was not enough, her puppy will never get the chance to enjoy life.

A concerned animal lover got ahold of the wounded dog and eventually rushed her to a veterinary center. The vets operated on her successfully and now the mother has started the recovery process. She is feeling much better now, but will never see the light of day again.

Unfortunately, cruelty to animals is widespread all across the country. For instance, a few years ago, thousands of dogs were poisoned and shot on the streets of Kyiv, ahead of the EURO football championship; it was also reported that hundreds of dogs were set on fire on a remote island in the Black Sea belonging to Ukraine. The blatant neglect and mistreatment of animals occurs on a national scale, without exception. The worst part of it all is the fact that with no animal welfare laws in place, the perpetrators are never brought to justice. We can all agree that Ukraine is passing through a very difficult time – politically and economically – but we, the undersigned, believe that the people in power have an obligation to think about the voiceless as well. The leaders of this great country need to come together and implement animal rights laws as soon as possible. Animals are not interested in politics. They deserve a decent and happy life. A nationwide law that will put an end to all this senseless abuse must come into force immediately.
