This terrible incident took place in Jackson, Tennessee. A litter of newborn puppies were discovered sealed in a plastic bag, inside a dumpster behind a local business.
Police officials reviewed the incident, caught on camera, and quickly identified the suspect as Ined Holmes Jr.
The same pick-up truck that was spotted on the scene was discovered at the man’s residence. In his backyard, authorities discovered a chained dog, the mother of the eight newborn puppies.
Quite amazingly, despite being sealed in a plastic bag for an extended period of time, the day old puppies managed to survive. They have been since reunited with their mother, Diamond, and are now they are under the supervision of the Companion Pet Rescue.
The shelter posted this adorable photo of the dog and her babies.
Hopefully, they will all recover and be available for adoption as soon as possible.
In the meantime, Holmes, who works at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, has been charged with eight counts of animal mistreatment. He has since been released on bond, pending his next court date.
It is my firm belief that this no good man
must be handed the maximum available by law and must be sentenced to mandatory
jail time. In addition, a pet ownership ban must certainly be imposed against
him. There is simply no excuse for what he did and I truly hope he will face
the full consequences of his actions and will not get away with a slap on the
wrist.
