behalf of the Australian government until a plan that will allow animals to be
treated humanely is voted in. Things cannot be allowed continue as they are.

Australia is the world’s largest exporter of sheep and cattle. Live
animals placed in containers and force to endure long-haul journeys to
countries in the Middle East, where there are no animal welfare laws. Abattoir
workers there have been caught on undercover cameras while inhumely treating
the animals and exhibiting a total lack of compassion towards them. Some of the
animals were hit in the head with hammers, others were cut open with huge
knives while still conscious, others were hurled upside down while still alive
and left to perish.
The Australian Ministry of Agriculture has promised numerous times
these actions will not happen again. Australian authorities have founded a
special commission to ensure that the animals will be treated as humanely as
possible. But in spite of this so-call plan to action, nothing has been
changed.
It is obvious that the Australian government has no control over
what happens once animals leave the country. They are directly responsible for
the fate of millions of innocent creatures.
What authorities in Australia can do is impose a complete ban on
exports until importing countries take measures to improve animal welfare and
end their plight.
