Lebanon: Man that hung his dog and filmed the scene receives no punishment. Support Animal Rights Now!

A totally soulless owner filmed himself allowing his dog to hang by some thick wires. To the owner, identified as Mohamad Shakrani, this all seemed to be a joke because during the disturbing video, the poor excuse of a man can be seen turning to the camera several times and displaying a huge smile on his face. He pokes the dog multiple times with a sharp object, before slapping the poor animal over the face with a pair of slippers.

The tiny, little creature is powerless to escape. It is not known for how long the puppy was left there, but at the end of the video, the canine is absolutely exhausted, howling in pain, waiting for someone to rescue him.

The evil owner then posted the shocking video on Facebook, where it turned into a viral hit immediately. People from all over the world took to social media to express their disgust and frustration with the man’s cowardly and despicable actions.

The incident took place in the city of Sour (Tyre) in Lebanon, about 100 km from Beirut, the capital city.

The story was also picked up by a major news station in Lebanon. Facing mounting pressure, the owner decided to delete the video and terminate his social media account.

After an intensive search operation, volunteers with the ‘Animals Pride And Freedom’ association have managed to track down the owner independently and rescue the puppy, now dubbed Baboushka. The pooch was extremely grateful to have been rescued and is now thriving with a new, loving family.

In spite of numerous complaints to the police, all pleas for justice have been ignored. Due to the lack of animal welfare laws in the country, Mohamad Shakrani will never be held accountable for what he did to that dog. This man has shown the entire world he is a danger to the entire society and there is a high possibility he will hurt again, and not just an animal, but people as well. In Western countries, Shakrani would have been immediately charged with cruelty to animals and would have likely been handed a stiff punishment. Unfortunately, in Lebanon he is not even investigated, yet alone punished.

This petition is not just about Baboushka. It is about all the animals in Lebanon that are constantly mistreated by twisted, sick invididuals for all sorts of reasons. None of these neglected souls get justice. It is also the authorities themselves that mistreat animals - for instance, massive poisoning campaigns of street dogs have been underway in many cities.

We, the undersigned, urge Lebanese lawmakers to implement the much-needed animal welfare legislation and ensure all animals in the country are handed out the protection they desperately deserve. There should be no doubt that sick individuals such as Mohamad Shakrani must be punished for harming innocent animals!

Animals do have rights and it is time the Lebanene government acknowledged that! Demand animal welfare laws in Lebanon as soon as possible!
