A hangbag is causing massive controservy online after it was
revealed that the cat purse is being auctioned online by a website in New
Zealand.
The disgusting, bizarre item – which includes cat’s head, which is
intact – has been put up for sale on the auction site TradeMe – and has an
eye-popping starting price of $1, 400.
According to the description provided in the auction, this unsual
item was made by professional taxidermist Clare Hobbs; the text informs users
that ‘it expresses the author’s artistic passions and desire to engineer the
surreal, especially with the help of feral and domestic felines’.
Logan Mudge, a website spokeperson, reported that no cruelty was
involved involved in the making of this object.
‘It’s definitely a statement bag. It’s surely not for me, but we
suspect there will be a buyer out there who is keen to purchase it. It’s quite
an unsual item and we believe the auction will receive a lot of attention
during the next week’.
We, the undersigned, are deeply distraught about this handbag and
ask the TradeMe website to remove it from being aunctioned as soon as possible.
This item needs to be taken off the web immediately, because it is of poor
taste and utterly disrespectful towards every animal in this world. Although no
real cat was used in the production process, this hangbag illustrates the
celebration of death and this should not be happening when an animal passes
away. Turning a lifeless cat into a handbag is simply unacceptable, no matter
what the circumstances are.
The aunction ends this week-end, please act fast to spread the word
and do not allow this disgusting handbag to receive so much publicity!
PS. I got a chance to take a close look at the comments that were
posted on the auction page and discovered that most readers where deeply
appalled by this hangbag. There were some people that were quite confused about
this item (for instance, they were wandering how the cat actually passed away)
while only a small percentage of readers thought the bag looked ‘pretty’.
