A shocking video of a man attacking a defenseless dog is making the rounds on social media. The innocent victim’s name is Lobo, he is a stray well looked after and adored by the entire community in the municipality of Lambari, in the Minais Gerais state of Brazil.
The upsetting incident was caught on CCTV camera. Lobo is resting peacefully in what seems to be a post office station when a man carrying a huge wooden stick enters the premises. Without hesitation, he starts pounding the harmless animal several times. Shocked witnesses are too scared to intervene, out of fear they might be attacked as well (no one could blame them, to be fair). The dog tries to escape, but takes repeated blows to the head and body. Finally, the pooch manages to make a run for it, quickly getting away, leaving his attacker behind.
The man then puts the stick down and carries on with his work, as if nothing happened. It is unclear if the attacker is actually an employee of that establishment or what kind of problem he had with that dog, who was uncapable of hurting a fly.
I am deeply disturbed by this incident and hope justice can be achieved as soon as possible. Please support my petition so the authorities launch an investigation into this matter and punish the coward responsible for this brutal and senseless attack.
There is no excuse for what this man did – I agree that no one has to like dogs, but this does not give you the right to attack a defenseless animal in this callous way.
