In China, the dog leather industry is in full swing, as an
undercover investigation carried out by PETA has revealed. Dogs are captured
from the streets and taken into facilities where they are pounded with huge
sticks until they give their last breath; some of them are still conscious when
they are skinned. The lifeless bodies are left just outside the facilities for
days. The sight and smell, as well as the suffering of these animals are
extremely difficult to imagine. A single facility can process between 100 and
200 dogs every day.
Around 300 dogs are kept in that compound. Most of them are
constantly agitated and climb over each other constantly in an attempt to get
away from the crammed kennels. Fear can be read in their eyes from miles away. Those helpless creatures do not stand a chance of survival.
Aftert the initial skinning process is complete, the skin is
prepared. Just recently, over 300 dog skins have been left to try under a
bridge in Hefei, Anhui province, in plain sight. This only comes to show that
those involved in this industry have no absolutely no shame.
Please note that this is just one of the compounds visited by PETA. There are countless others where similar activities are carried out.
After this process is complete, the skin is sold to fashion companies such as Dolce & Gabbana. The Italian iconic duo has been making hefty profits on the back of innocent animals in China, as company executives have shown zero compassion for the life of these helpless creatures thus far.
As one of the most important brands in the fashion industry, Dolce
& Gabbana should be promoting
cruel-free clothing. Ask the company to denounce leather completely and use vegan
fabrics to manufacture their pricey apparel instead.
Urge Dolce Gabbana to take a stand against the merciless dog leather
industry in China and go cruel-free!
Please also take the pledge not to wear leather products again. There are plenty of vegan fabric alternatives out there and it would be ideal if all of us would denounce this despicable industry!
