Chicago, IL: A suspect has been detained and charged after grabbing a dog by its legs, turning him upside down and dropping him on his head repeatedly.
Concerned neighbors from a 2 000 block of West Adams Street in Chicago, Illinois, heard the man scream and shout for minutes, before deciding to call the local law enforcement. By the time authorities arrived, it was too late to save the dog. He was no longer alive after being hit multiple times in the head to the concrete floor.
The suspect has been identified as 52-year-old Melvin Stovall. He was referred to the Leighton Court Bulding Judge Maria Kuriakos-Ciesel – where he was ordered to be held on a $150, 000 bail.
During interviews with the police, Stovall seemed to express no regrets at all about what he had done and claimed that the dog deserved it. He was unable to provide a specific reason as to what the dog did actually deserve this inhumane treatment.
I am shocked that such monsters still exist in today’s society. If he did not want to care for his dog anymore, he could have easily surrendered the dog to a shelter, or ask his friends and family if they wanted to adopt him. There is absolutely no justification for what he did!
We must do everything in our power to ensure this subhuman is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, in addition to receiving a permanent ban on owning, having custody, or being in the company of animals in accordance with the relevant legislation.
Let us make sure this lowlife is handed out a stiff jail term and pays costly for what he did to his innocent pet dog!
