This is just a glimpse of how greyhounds are dealt with in Argentina. Regarded as cash-cows, these gentle, docile creatures are pushed to their limits, only to be thrown away like some disposable objects when no longer needed. Help get greyhound racing banned in Argentina and support this campaign now!
To be in shape for the race, greyhounds are forced to endure grueling training sessions – which include being tied up behind a moving car and forced to keep up, as the pace grows higher every minute (in order to improve stamina). They are fed numerous pills in order to boost their energy; they often suffer cramps, cardiac arritmia, liver failure or remain paralyzed.
The video attached to the petition shows just what happens moments before the start of a race: a trainer is pushing his greyhound several times, mishandling the animal, who yelps in pain, asking not be involved in these races. But he and thousands of others like him have no choice. They are forced to do this and are unable to escape.
Probably the worst part starts after they stop winning races or are simply too old for this business – greyounds are disposed of in the most inhumane way there can be; they are either shot, thrown off a cliff or left to hung by a tree. The lucky ones are just abandoned, they are able to escape and eventually find shelter.
Volunteers in Argentina are doing an amazing job saving as many greyhounds (or galgos in Spanish) as they can, but as long as these dogs are forced to race, there will never be peace in their souls.
Support this campaign and help stop this vile treatment of greyhounds in Argentina! It is obvious these dogs go through so much pain and distress and it is clear they do not want to be involved in the racing business.
Please be a voice for the thousands of mistreated greyhounds! Let us
come together and help them!
Stop abusing greyhounds – they are forced to race until they die to entertain people! https://t.co/LZZaPkBB50 pic.twitter.com/WvB0ZYe0FY
