Stop sacrificing animals in the name of religion!

The upsetting video was posted on social media recently. The footage, about four minutes long, illustrates a deeply saddening, but perfect example of how cows are treated in the Middle East.

A ruthless man, wearing a red T-shirt and a pair of loose, brown pants can be seen hitting a cow that is tied to a wall with a huge can over the head on and on. The cow is clearly unconfortable, but has no means to escape. After running out of muscle, the man ties the cow’s mouth with a rope and tries to pull her towards him. Some of his friends (those who aren’t filming and laughing) come over to give the man a hand. They finally get the cow to move and moments after, the slash the poor animal open with a huge knife and leave the blood to pour out as the cow struggles to survive in her final moments on this inhumane planet.

This happens in broad daylight, in the middle of the street. Reports indicate this took place in Yemen. We have witnessed similar scenes in Egypt and other countries in the Middle East as well.

While no petition will be able to ban cow consumption in a country, what, we the undersigned, are asking is that this inhumane sacrifice of cows be stopped. People just can’t be going around hitting cows in the head, dragging them around and slashing them with huge knife while they are fully conscious! Especially in the middle of the street, with passers-by flying all over the place!

There has to be a more humane approach, with less suffering involved for these helpless animals.

It is beyond any doubt that sacrificing cows needs to be regulated in Yemen. We ask that this issue is taken seriously and a humane resolution on this problem is found as soon as possible.
