Please support my petition, because regardless of your political views and likes, we need to send President Elect Donald Trump a strong message that animal welfare is a serious issue and should constitute a top priority of his mandate.

When he is not defending his sons’ hunting adventures, President Elect Trump likes to wear luxurious fur pelts and brag about it online. He and his entire family (including wife Melania daughter Ivanka) have been spotted on numerous occasions wearing luxurious fur coats.

Mr. Trump, please educate yourself before opting to wear such garments. These pelts carry the blood of innocent animals. Each year, millions of animals suffer tremendously so these coats can be produced. Most of the fur comes from China, where entrepreneurs have set up so-called fur farms, where animals are bred exclusively for their fur. Animals are forced to sit in cages bigger than them 24/7, they receive little food and water and when the time is right, they are put down in the most inhumane ways possible – some are electrocuted or have their necks snapped, while others are skinned alive. Mr. Trump has said numerous times that he has strong intentions of re-negotiating the US-China business relations and has always slammed China for stealing jobs, yet Mr. Trump is the one that buys fur made in China.

We, the undersigned, are extremely concerned by Mr. Trump’s choice for fashion. We demand that the President Elect publicly denounces the fur industry and pledges to stop fur imports from China into the United States as soon as he takes office.

Mr. President Elect, please do not ignore the suffering of millions of innocent creatures! Thank you.
