The
American Dream was “open†for everyone who wanted to be a citizen of America,
to share its values, to be an honorable member of the USA, willing to be part
of the American society. The number of people who decided to become citizens
had to deserve this privilege, had to be worth of it. After numerous people
earned this right, more and more citizens came in America and established
themselves there. Whether that was more or less legal, it is not to be
discussed, but assumed that all was done in a perfectly legal background,
context. These being said, America was full of people.
Authorities
thus decided it was time to impose certain travel restrictions. Not only are
they harmful to people, but are bad for business as well. We are all living in
an economical world. How can we clinch contracts, how can we expand our
business worldwide if such restrictions are imposed?
In
December 2015, the United States enacted a law that ends visa-free travel for
individuals based on their Middle Eastern or African
heritage.
Their
answer: national security measures.
Amid unlawful attacks in Paris and Brussels, the American authorities thought
that they’ll be safer if they say: “Nobody in, nobody outâ€.
Until
now, U.S. citizens and those the European Union, Japan, South Korea and several
others – 38 countries total—enjoyed visa-free travel. The discrimination refers
to Middle East and Africa. The press states the following:
“Travelers of Middle Eastern and African descent (for example, Europeans of
Iranian descent), will have these travel privileges revokedâ€.
These
restrictions not only harms people’s right, but they also “could negatively
impact U.S. business interestsâ€. We are in 2016. How is this even possible?
With so many organizations trying to abolish discrimination of any type, how
can America, the biggest nation in the world, discriminate so outrageously?
Public
figures or even CEO’s, developers do not agree with these restrictions. Adriana
Gascoigne, Founder and CEO of Girls in
Tech: “It’s not just the direct impact, it’s the unforeseen repercussions
that is concerning. This law is essentially a form of ‘sanction’ against our
closest allies and trading partners: Europe, Japan, Korea, etc. We should be
working with them, not against themâ€.
“Discriminating
based on national heritage is inconsistent with American valuesâ€
