Meet Officer Taylor McDaniel. He works with the Laurel County Animal Control Unit and is an officer based in London, Kentucky.
While the sacred duty of an A/C officer is to treat animals
humanely, with love and care, officer McDaniel is doing the exact opposite.
During a routine rescue operation, officer McDaniel was spotted severely
mishandling a pair of puppies. The poor animals were visibly scared and
agitated. Instead of calming them, McDaniel grabs them by their scruff and
callously tosses them in the institution’s van. Please pay a closer look at the
photo on the left, there is blood coming from the dog’s mouth. That poor,
terrified animal is visibly injured and McDaniel is mistreating him
nonetheless.
But the outrageous part has yet to unfold. It turns out that officer McDaniel has received an award for his activity on behalf of the Kentucky Animal Care and Control Association. Mr. McDaniel is Officer of the Year 2015 for aiding the county’s animals in a cruelty investigation. It is absolutely outrageous that an A/C officer that loves to abuse animals is actually handed out an award!
The Kentucky Animal Care and Control Association took to Facebook to clarify the fact that the award was handed out prior to the photos being made public. In other words, the association claims they were unaware of the photos, otherwise they would have revised their decision. Officials also added that the award was given as a result of nominations submitted to the executive board, but have made it clear they have no plans to withdraw McDaniel’s award.
There is absolutely no excuse for officer McDaniel’s vile and despicable actions.
In the light of these disturbing photos, we, the undersigned, strongly feel that Taylor McDaniel is no longer fit to be working as an Animal Control officer and hereto request he is dismissed from all his duties with the Laurel County Animal Control Unit effective immediately.
Please take action to ensure officer McDaniel is relieved from his duties as Animal Control officer as soon
as possible and never be allowed to work with animals again.
