Spencer was brought to the county shelter in Kershaw City, South
Carolina in a desperate state of health. This Doberman, believed to be one year
old, was severely emaciated, dehydrated and wounded. His ears appeared to have
been cropped as a result of an improvised, illegal and painful surgery. But
this was not Spencer’s worst injury: his back had been severely effected and
vets performed immediate tests to determine what had happened to this puppy.
After a series of thorough investigations, vets determined that the
dog’s spine had been severed, which made him look like he had been cut in half.
Despite his tremendous pain, Spencer was extremely friendly to everyone he met
at the clinic, both human and canine.
Vets concluded that, most likely, Spencer had escaped from the place
where he had been kept since he was born. At one point, he started eating
another lifeless animal in order to brush of the hunger and stay alive; he was
later hit by a car; the driver never stopped to help either.
Upon hearing Spencer’s sad story, Rescue Dogs Rock stepped up to
help the pooch. Unless vets perform immediate surgery, the dog’s chance of
survival are slim. The cost of operation and intensive care are estimated at
$7, 000. Rescue Dogs Rock has already made a deposit of $3, 000 to prepare
Spencer’s surgery.
We took him because he was in great pain and this puppy deserves to
live – Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of the New York based animal rescue group
explained.
Fortunately, Spencer’s days of abuse are now over. From here, this
pure Doberman puppy will receive the best medical care possible and, hopefully,
will be adopted by a loving and caring family, who will nurse him back to
health.
Please support my petition so the monsters responsible for this prolonged neglect are brought to justice as soon as possible. No living creature deserves to be treated like this, no matter what the circumtances are.
