Houlka, Mississippi: A video of a dog being tied up and
dragged behind a pick-up truck has gone viral on social media, shocking the
entire community.
The video was initially posted on Snapchat by a group of teens that witnessed the upsetting incident. The teens were driving along peacefully when they spotted a red pick up truck with a dog attached to it. The truck’s window was open, so the teens were able to hear the driver laugh and cheer as he applied this inhumane treatment to the defenseless animal.
The video goes on for a few minutes – during all this time, the dog unable to keep up his footing and is mercilessly dragged behind the vehicle at high speed.
Local authorities watched the video and determined that the driver was 70-year-old Willie Davis. He was booked and charged shortly after the video went viral. Police reports indicate that when deputies arrived at his home, they found the dog chained to a tree without food and water and in desperate need of medical attention.
The dog, dubbed Champ, was shipped to a vet for treatment and will
be relocated to a rehabilitation facility soon.
I think he just happened to lose him temper and just made some very bad decision –Chickasaw County Sheriff Jim Meyers stated.
David is set to appear in court soon. He faces a maximum penalty of six months behind bars and a $2, 500 fine.
Please show your support to ensure this heartless owner is handed the maximum penalty available by law and is never allowed to keep pets or come in contact with them again.
This man spared no mercy to his dog. The sentencing should be as tough as possible, to ensure the culprit learns a valuable lesson about how to treat pets.
