I am asking all animal lovers to unite and bring justice for this helpless bear that was shot and left to die on the streets of Sibiu, in Romania.

The brown bear, believed to be around six years old, came from the Mountains and somehow got lost. Thousands of people were shocked to spot the animal having a stroll in the city centre of Sibiu. Startled by all the noise and agitation, the terrified bear climbed a building rooftop and later managed to take shelter in the yard of a nearby factory. He hid himself in a flower pot, hoping he will be reunited with his family soon.

Exclusive: Punish thugs that cut dog’s ears off and posed for photos!

Emergy response teams were dispatched immediately. They tried to humanely tranquilize the scared animal but, for some reason, the operation failed. The bear was still very much awake and was deemed a public threat, although he did not attack anyone. It is only natural for a bear that is lost from his habitat to be a little confused and nervous.

Before another rescue mission could be attempted, members of the veterinary service shot the bear and left the poor animal to die in the flower pot, in a disgusting display of cowardness and inhumanity.

It was later revealed that Romania has absolutely no protocols in place to deal with such emergency situations. According to the treaty signed in Bern, Switzerland, brown bears are protected all across Europe (including Romania) and should not be harmed under any circumstances. That did not matter for the authorities in Sibiu, who decided to terminate the bear and ask questions later.

Authorities later motivated this inexplicable decision to put down the harmless bear citing national security.

‘The safety our citizens is of utmost importance to us and should come first in any situation’ the prefect of Sibiu, Cristian Roman, stated.

We, the undersigned, are extremely outraged by the decision taken by the authorities and demand justice is served. Please sign and share and demand that the people responsible for taking the life of an innocent bear are held accountable – animal cruelty charges must be filed and these irresponsible employees must be fired as soon as possible.
