A motorist that was driving alongside the Amman-Irbid highway in Jordan was left stunned when he spotted a dog being dragged by a car in front of him.
The driver asked a the passenger to his right to record the scene as evidence. The perpetrator was driving at high speed with the dog attached to the rear of the car with a rope. It was impossible for the poor animal to escape.
The witness even drove by the driver, asking him to pull over, but the driver refused to stop and kept going like nothing was wrong. The merciless attacker’s face was caught on camera and used as evidence.
The witness immediately called the police to denounce this incident and, as a result, the attacker was booked and charged with animal mistreatment shortly afterwards.
The motorist claimed that the dog had rabies and attacked one of his children, so he decided to ‘get rid’ of the dog by all means.
Unfortunately, penalties for such types of offences are pathetic in this country. For instance, anyone caught abusing an animal can be convicted to a maximum of seven days behind bars and fine of just $5.
7 days in jail and a $5? This is what the life of an animal is
worth? This makes it look like some sort of holiday! It’s purely ridiculous!
Authorities need to step up and enforce tougher laws against these monsters. The current sentences are an open invitation for people to abuse animals, knowing they will get away with it.
