Unlawful pranksters took it upon themselves to dye a stray dog’s fur
in toxic pink paint in the latest case of cruelty to animals in Russia.
A series of photos shows the dog – which usually has a white fur –
walking around the streets and playing in the snow with another group of
pooches. The dog nonchalantly approached people on the street, asking for some
food and cuddling, but almost no one noticed the blatant abuse.
The images sparked online outraged. The pooch, now dubbed ‘Pink
Elephant’ was eventually rescued and taken to a local shelter in the he city of
Izhevsk, in central Russia’s Udmurt Republic. According to an update, the dog
has been vomiting intensively, amid ingesting some of the toxic paint.
Shelter volunteers are now working to wash off the toxic substances
and get the canine’s fur back to normal.
Vera Ivanova, the person that rescued the dog, stated: ‘The dye is
washing off at a slow place. The dog seems to be in good physical shape, but
has been having reactions after ingesting some toxic substances’.
Last year, a similar case occurred in Russia when an irresponsible
woman dyed her cat’s fur pink for a party where all guest had to wear this
colour. The cat passed away shortly after the party, because it kept licking
the brightly-coloured fur and ingested many toxic substances.
Please support my petition and demand an immediate investigation
into this matter. Those sick pranksters are still out there, free to harm again
at their own will. Help make sure they are taken off the streets. That poor dog
could have passed away as a result of their actions. To them, this all might
have been entertainment, but cruelty to animals in never a joke!
