A resident of New Delhi, India, decided to sever two legs of a
defenseless puppy, after the gentle creature gave him a minor stratch. And now,
due to archaic laws, the man could potentially get away with only a symbolic
fine.
The terrible incident took place in Dwarka, in the Western part of
Delhi. It all started when the stray pup sneaked into the residence belonging
to Pramod, an umemployed man that only goes by one name. Pramod welcomed the
puppy inside and offered the canine some food and something to drink. Extremely
excited by this warm welcoming, the puppy rushed towards the man and
accidentally stratched his legs, which infuriated Pramod extremely.
The man quickly lost his temper and rushed to get ahold of a sharp
blade. He proceeded to chop the puppy’s legs with the bladed object and then
used a hacksaw to cut the bones as well. According to the attacker’s wife,
Pramod fully enjoyed the experience as blood was pouring from everywhere. The
defenseless creature stood no chance in front of his vicious attacker. After
the attack, Pramod left the puppy in a pool of blood and took off like nothing
had happened.
Neighbours claim that Pramod often drinks and has made a habit out
of pounding his wife and mistreating his children. His wife recalls that after
drinking heavily, sometimes the man would hang his children upside down and
leave them like this for minutes.
This is just the most recent of the many incidents of cruelty to
animals that have occurred in India in the past few months. In July, a student
of the Chennai university was spotted tossing a defenseless dog from the top of
a building. In Hydebarad, a group of children were filmed burning three puppies
alive. In November, a monkey was buried alive by a students on campus at the Christian
Medical College in Vellore, one of India’s most prestigious universities.
Because of extremely lenient laws, none of attackers involved in these
outrageous incidents has been punished accordingly.
Please support my petition and demand tougher animal welfare laws in India. Too many innocent animals have suffered for no reason and too many attackers have escaped unpunished. India must implement new laws to discourage such acts and truly punish those involved. We, the undersigned, hereby demand mandatory jail time for each citizen convicted of cruelty to animals, in addition to an automatic lifetime ban on owning pets.
