Justice for Phoenix – harmless dog set on fire for fun!

This harmless dog was discovered on the side of the road by a concerned citizen. The dog was in a dreadful state of health and had severe burns on her body. The person that found her could not afford to get the animal to a vet and pay her treatment. But the good Samaritan took the wounded dog home, snapped a few photos and uploaded them online, pleading for help.

Withing hours, a non-profit called Pure Hearts Rescue stepped came across the photos and stepped in. They arranged for transport and the dog arrived in no time at the Atlantic Animal Hospital / ER, for her health to be examined.

She immediately received the care she desperately needed. She was put on IV fluids, given vitamins and antibiotics. According to the doctor, the wounds look like somebody tried to pour accelerant over her back and then lit her on fire!

Vets determined that Phoenix will need a couple of surgeries. One – to clean out the wounds and debris and try to stabilize the infection; the next one, to patch up the skin as much as possible

Phoenix has already undergone her first surgery and vets are confident she will able to recover nicely. Staff reported that in spite everything she went through, Phoenix is extremely gentle and sweet.

Take action now to ensure that local law enforcement are on top of this case and that Phoenix’s attacker is brought to justice. The person responsible for this inhumane act is still out there and this is a terrible and frightening thought! Justice must be achieved at all costs, because no one should ever forced experience what poor Phoenix had to endure.
