Baylor University sophomore receiver Ish Zamora was recently caught
on camera severely mistreating his pet dog. Zamora could be seen hitting the
animal repeatedly with a belt, as the defenseless dog howls in distress.
In spite of his actions, Zamora is still with the team. Management
announced the receiver will face disciplinary sanctions, but that does not
involve getting him expelled from the team – as he probably deserved.
This is the statement issued by coach Jimb Grobe:
“We will no tolerate this. He will have to be disciplined. The city
is going to get a piece of him and the university will not take it lightly
either. Sanctions will emerge. From an athletic department perspective, there
will be some changes, definitely. Hopefully, he will learn from his mistakes’.
Zamora, who is regarded as one of the top football players at
college, was charged with class C misdemeanor for hurting his dog and was given
a citation, which could result in a $500.
The video showing Zamora repeatedly hitting his dog went viral on
social media. The attacker later apologized for his actions, stating that he
snapped because he was having trouble house training the pooch.
‘I am truly sorry for what I did. I have owned the dog for 20
months, he’s perfectly healthy, I love him very much. But I just happened to
lose my temper’
I started the petition because I am extremely unhappy with the way
this incident has been treated by Baylor University. Zamora needs to be kicked
out of the team indefinitely. There is absolutely no excuse for what he did.
Giving him a symbolic sanction will not be sufficient in an effort to teach
Zamora a lesson on how to respectfully treat a pet dog.
Please support tougher sanctions against Ish Zamora and help ensure
he will no longer be allowed to play football for Baylor University again.
