Maomao’s story has touched the lives of millions of people around
the world. What Maomao was forced to go through is absolutely despicable and
outrageous: she was a loving and playful pet, but was snatched for her beloved
owners by a group of vile dog traders and sold for her meat to a restaurant.
This petition is for Maomao and for all the millions of abused dogs of China.

This gorgeous Golden Retriever had given birth to a litter of
puppies just 45 days before being viciously taken from her owners. She was
snatched without remorse by a group of dog traders and sold to a restaurant for
her meat. She was tied to a pole in broad daylight, as restaurant employees
started to cut off her legs and skin her while she was still conscious! Just
imagine the unspeakable pain and suffering this poor dog had to endure.
Unfortunately, these types of actions have become sort of a routine,
as countless passers-by passed by this horrible scene, yet chose to ignore it.
A concerned citizen finally addressed the problem and confronted the employee.
The witness even offered to pay for Maomao’s release, but the ruthless employee
claimed they were not interested in the offer, because the dog’s meat was
allegedly more valuable to them.
Using social media, Maomao’s owner finally tracked down the
restaurant responsible for this inhumanity. But by the time the owner arrived
at that respective diner, Maomao had already been skinned alive and cooked for
her meat.
This is just one of the innocent victims of this vicious trade.
Maomao was as gentle, loving and wonderful as a pet dog could be. But that did
not matter in the eyes of the traders, who only regarded her as a method of
gaining some extra cash. Nothing has changed since Maomao’s story went viral.
Millions of innocent canines continue to be rounded off the streets or snatched
for their owners and cooked for their meat. Rough estimates indicate that over
15 million dogs are cooked in China every year.
During all this time, authorities have shown little interest in addressing
this extremely divisive subject in China. Pet ownership has risen dramatically
over the past decades, yet there are still many that regard dog meat as a
delicacy.
It is extremely important to show your support for this petition.
The Chinese authorities must know that we, the undersigned, support a full and
indefinite ban on dog meat all across China. Let us do this for Maomao.
Take action now and speak up against this inhumane dog meat trade
now!
