A puzzling incident shocked the residents of Elyria, Ohio last December. A callous man was spotted throwing a dog off a tall cliff in the Cascade Park Nature Center for no apparent reason.
A shocked witness recalls that the injured dog somehow survived the first fall. Despite being wounded, the pooch managed to climb back up again the steep hill. But the attacker and his friend were not impressed by the dog’s stamina and determination and threw the pooch over the cliff for a second time.
The dog is presumed to have perished after the second fall. His body
was never found by park rangers.
The two suspects have been identified as 21-year-old Christopher Taylor and 24-year-old Joshua Novak. Charges were filed, but the Examiner newspaper now reports that accusations have been dropped because the key witness is no where to be found.
According to a recent article, the witness failed to show up at a pre-trial hearing and authorities have been unable to locate him. Neighbors allegedly claim the witness moved out of town.
It was that specific witness who told the authorities that the men in question had tossed the dog over the side of the rocky cliff.
Without their key witness and no other proof to link the men to the dog’s passing, Elyria court officials decided charges needed to be dropped.
We, the undersigned, are outraged at the possibility that these two men walk away free from court. More action needs to be taken to ensure justice is served. One innocent dog passed away in tremendous suffering as a result undertaken by these monsters. They need to be held accountable by all means for their vicious acts.
We hereby ask the Ohio judicial authorities to get involved in this case once again and pursue other viable options to bring the suspects to justice!
